New Brunswick Education Deal Inked On China Trade Mission
The New Brunswick K-12 curriculum will be offered to the children of foreign Diplomatic Missions stationed with their families in Beijing, China by Mid-2006.
Dr. Francis Pang, Chairman of the Concord Colleges of Sino Canada, was recently selected the winner among multiple bids proposed for a prestigious new International school to be located in the heart of Beijing. Prime Minister Paul Martin and Premier Wen Jiabao witnessed the signing between Dr. Pang and Alan Norman who represented Atlantic Education International Inc. and the N.B. Department of Education. The signing was one of ten International agreements chosen by both Canadian and Chinese Federal governments in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Bids from many other countries were received however the Chinese government’s long term and successful relationship with the partnership of Dr. Pang and New Brunswick, as the first Canadian province to deliver a Joint High School diploma in China, won out.
The MOU will strengthen and expand cooperation in the Educational Sector between China and the Province of New Brunswick through their commitment to partner in the creation and development of the new Beijing International School in the diplomatic section of Beijing.
Mike Tilley and Xiaoxing Han of CANLink Global of Saint John arranged for New Brunswick companies from multiple sectors to attend this Prime Minister Paul Martin led Canadian Trade Mission. "We’re working detailed agendas with e-Learning firm Innovatia, wireless security company V.E. Networks, and the Moncton Flight College over a two week span", said Tilley. "Each organization is making significant progress and the support of Prime Minister Martin and the buzz surrounding the signing between New Brunswick and the China for the new international school has been of benefit to our delegation. We’re famous by association."
Last evening a large group of New Brunswickers gathered at a trendy Sichuan Hot Pot restaurant for a traditional Chinese dinner in celebration of the education signing with Francis Pang. Roxanne Fairweather, Vice President and CEO of Innovatia remarked that although the different N.B. firms have their own agendas and interests in China, everyone is supporting one another. "It’s like a family and all of us are extremely proud of what we as a province have achieved in education. It is definitely worth celebrating."
